13th Annual Conference for Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression
Conference Information

Registration is a two-step process:
- Submit your proposal: The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, March 2, 2012. Please use the Proposal Submission Form to submit your proposal. (insert link to proposal form)
- Register for the conference: By March 26th you will receive an email if your proposal has been accepted for the conference. This email will contain information on how to register for the conference. Please complete your registration no later than Wednesday, April 4th to confirm your participation.
Conference 'Check-in' will take place in the lobby of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building at Penn State Berks (see map). Registrants will receive a packet of information that includes the program and a ticket for the luncheon.
Poster sessions will be held in the first-floor lobby of the Gaige Building.
Presentations can be in the form of a paper presentation, poster, artwork, film, or performance. Guidelines for each presentation type will be posted in mid-January.
Students who attend an HECBC school — Albright College, Alvernia University, Penn State Berks, Kutztown University and Reading Area Community College — and whose faculty sponsor is from an HECBC school do not pay a registration fee.
Students and faculty who do not attend an HECBC school or whose faculty sponsor is not from an HECBC school must pay a $15 registration fee.
The registration fee for guests is $15.
Presentation Types
Paper
Paper presentations may focus on research in academic fields including but not limited to education, social sciences, natural sciences, the humanities, or business. Those with papers will have 10 minutes to present them. There will also be time allotted for questions during the session. Once your submission has been accepted and you have registered for the conference you will be assigned a room with others who are presenting on the same subject. Poster
Posters may focus on research in academic fields including but not limited to education, social sciences, natural sciences, the humanities, or business. Participants will mount posters on a poster panel to be viewed by others for two hours. Your time will be confirmed after your submission has been received. Please see the 'Guidelines' and 'Student Presentation Schedule' links for additional information.
Visual Art Work
The categories for visual art include but are not limited to ceramics, design, drawing, mixed media, multi-media, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture. Visual art will be on display for the entire conference. You are responsible for setting up and removing your own work. The exact location will be confirmed after we receive your slides or URL. Please see the 'Guidelines' and 'Student Presentation Schedule' links for more details.
Film Presentations
Film presentations are limited to 10 minutes. The exact location and time will be confirmed after we receive your CD or URL. Please see the 'Guidelines' and 'Student Presentation Schedule' links for further information.
Performance
Performances including but not limited to dance, music, poetry, fiction, or dramatic readings will be limited to 10 minutes. Exact time will be confirmed after we receive your creative writing submission, tape, or URL. Please note performance restrictions on the 'Guidelines' page.
