A team of Penn State Berks faculty members received VentureWell’s Faculty Grant in the amount of $14,394 for the project titled “Cross Pollination of STEM Courses to Sustain Entrepreneur teams’ Disruptive-technology Solutions (STEM Seeds).”
At the 2019 College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals (CUPRAP) Awards Ceremony, the Penn State Berks Office of Strategic Communications was presented with a Silver CUPPIE Award in the Poster category for their Macbeth Theatre poster.
Berks contributed $97.5 million to the Pennsylvania economy in FY 2017, and supported, 1,356 Pennsylvania jobs. A new study released Feb. 26 by Penn State, focused on measuring the University’s impact in communities across the Commonwealth.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Harrisburg Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored Ruth Matilda Freyberger on March 14, with assistance from Marilyn Fox of the Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery.
Slam poet Taylor Mali will share his gift with Penn State Berks on Tuesday, April 2, at 7 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.
As part of the Penn State Berks Sustainability Film Series, the college will host a screening of the film “Chasing Coral” at 6 p.m. Monday, March 25, in Room 101 of the Franco Building. Jennifer Koss, director of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Coral Reef Conservation Program, will present a Q&A session via Zoom after the film screening. This event is free and open to the public.
Madison Wojciechowski, a junior majoring in mechanical engineering at Penn State Berks, was selected as a finalist to present her research at a Society of Women Engineers WE Local Conference on Feb. 15 to 16, in Tampa, Florida.
David Tuck, a survivor of the Holocaust, will visit Penn State Berks at 12:15 p.m. Monday, April 1, and speak about his experiences in the Multipurpose Room of the Perkins Student Center. This event is free and open to the public.
The Freyberger Gallery will host the FH Gaige II Juried Exhibit in honor of the late CEO Emeritus Frederick H. Gaige. The exhibit includes more than 60 pieces of art including painting, sculpture, printmaking, fabric art, and ceramics from Berks County.
