Dr. Maria C. Fellie has completed degrees in English and Spanish and has been teaching Spanish at the university level since 2007. She has studied and worked abroad at universities in Spain, but has visited many other countries and loves to explore the world and its cultures. One of her favorite parts of being a professor is helping students study and travel abroad.

Dr. Fellie’s research centers on translation studies, contemporary poetry and culture in Spain, and visual studies. Her article and presentation topics combine these specialties. She also translates poetry, specifically the poetry of Antonio Colinas (Spain), and often carries out volunteer translation projects, sometimes in collaboration with students.

At Penn State Berks, Dr. Fellie is currently the Chair of the Spanish Minor and Head of the Certificate in Spanish for Healthcare. She teaches a range of courses, from Spanish 1, 2, and 3 to advanced courses for the Minor and Certificate. Dr. Fellie’s courses tend to focus on grammar, writing, translation, or Spanish for healthcare.
