New Generation Bollywood Dance Company to perform on Nov. 30

New Generation Bollywood Dance Company will bring the colorful sights and sounds of all that is joyous about East Indian “Bollywood” dance, as well as traditional dance, to Penn State Berks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. This cultural performance is free and open to the public.

“Bollywood” takes its name from a merging of Hollywood and Bombay, now called Mumbai. Often described as Indian cinema, “Bollywood” mixes dancing styles from all four corners of India and incorporates songs that depict a variety of world music, climatic-theatrical scenes, and songs of celebration. Elaborate colorful costumes, flowing movements, and rhythmic sounds create the dynamic performance.

Featuring renowned dancer Sonalee Vyas, New Generation Dance Company has become one of the most sought after campus attractions in the mid-Atlantic region. As a headline attraction at major festivals throughout the world, Vyas’ New Generation Dance Company has earned an international reputation for their creative mix of technique, energy, and emotion.
