Global Studies Forum to host Population Connection president

READING, Pa. — The Global Studies program at Penn State Berks will host a Global Forum 2017 with a presentation titled "Soaring Past 7 Billion: Population Challenges for a Crowded World" by John Seager, president and CEO of Population Connection, at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, March 20, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.

Population Connection (formerly Zero Population Growth or ZPG) is the largest grassroots population organization in the United States with more than 40,000 members, and hundreds of thousands more supporters and participating educators. Population Connection focuses on achieving global population stabilization through universal awareness and access to voluntary family planning together with the full empowerment of women.

Seager has been a guest lecturer at more than 50 colleges and has spoken to numerous environmental, religious, and community groups all across the United States on the environmental and human costs of rapid population growth. He was appointed to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency by the Clinton sdministration and also served as chief of staff for U.S. Rep. Peter H. Kostmayer (D-PA), a senior member of the House Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee. A veteran of more than 50 political campaigns, Seager has authored numerous op-eds and articles on various aspects of population growth.
