Berks students to volunteer at Country Meadows, Opportunity House

READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks students, in collaboration with Olivet Boys and Girls Club, will host a Sock Hop Prom for the residents of Country Meadows from 1 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 9. The event will include various stations for the residents to enjoy, including dancing, karaoke, root beer floats, and origami corsage/boutonniere making.

Several clubs are expected to participate in the event, including Berks Cares. The students will be working under the supervision of Autumn Fritz, assistant director of Community Development at Penn State Berks, and Kelly Sorrick of Country Meadows. Students will return to Country Meadows from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 23 for a game day with the residents.

In addition, students will serve dinner to the clients of Opportunity House at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 10, as part of the campus' commitment to community service.
