READING, Pa. — Writing scientific articles can pose a challenge as the writer seeks to decipher the jargon and cut through the data to pique readers' interest. Liz Neeley, executive director of the award-winning podcast "The Story Collider," will speak on this subject from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.
Neeley holds a bachelor of arts in marine biology from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in ecology and evolution from Boston University. She has spent nearly a decade with "The Story Collider," helping scientists share behind-the-scenes stories of amazing scientific discoveries. The stories range from hilarious narratives to heartbreaking revelations, but all of the stories are true, scientific and enthralling.
In her talk, Neeley will describe what it’s like to direct an award-winning podcast, and she will discuss how "The Story Collider" team balances the objective nature of science with the subjective nature of good storytelling.
