Pulse Nightclub survivor to speak on Oct. 4

When Angel Colon decided to go to Pulse Nightclub in Orlando for a fun night with friends on June 11, 2016, he had no idea that by the early morning hours of June 12, his life would be changed forever. He will discuss his experience as a survivor of one of the deadliest shootings in the country at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. This presentation is free and open to the public.

Berks alum James Fitzgerald to discuss FBI career

Retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent James “Fitz” Fitzgerald, a 1975 Penn State graduate and a former student at Penn State Berks, and the agent credited with bringing the Unabomber to justice, will give two special presentations on his career in the FBI: the first at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, and the second at 12:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, both in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.

Students, faculty and staff at Penn State Berks will welcome family and alumni to campus when the college hosts its annual Family and Homecoming Weekend, from Friday, Sept. 22, to Sunday, Sept. 24. This year’s theme reminds alumni “There’s No Place Like Berks.”

Penn State Berks Police Service will sponsor a screening of "Finding Jenn's Voice," followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Tracy Schott, at 7 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The screening is part of the University’s “Stand for State” program.

Author to speak about power of resilience on Nov. 15

Dave Pelzer will discuss the importance of resilience and perseverance as he divulges his own personal history at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This lecture is free and open to the public, but due to the sensitive nature of his lecture, audience members be at least 18 years old.

New Generation Bollywood Dance Company will bring the colorful sights and sounds of all that is joyous about East Indian “Bollywood” dance, as well as traditional dance, to Penn State Berks at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. Jon Vroman, founder of the Front Row Foundation, motivational speaker, and author of this year’s common reading for Penn State Berks, "Living College Life in the Front Row," will present a lecture that divulges his secrets for student success at 12:15 and 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium
