Welcome to the Penn State Berks. Never before has a college education been more important to our citizenry. Technological advances mandate that people who enter the work place must be prepared to write effective reports, interact with the public, solve problems, and do most of this over the Internet. At Penn State Berks we are committed to preparing well-rounded, technologically-savvy citizens.
Students have a panoply of experiences available to them while enrolled as a Penn State student: musical and theatrical performances, outstanding art exhibits, sporting events, scientific research experiences, intellectual seminars and competitions are only a few of the enriching opportunities available outside of the classroom for a Penn State student here at Penn State Berks.
Penn State Berks has established a reputation of being among the most diverse populations within the University. We consciously work to make our campuses the most welcoming and safe places for all who come. I am also proud of the fact that our faculty, staff, students, and administration are committed to "Making Life Better” for the communities we serve and for exemplifying the land grant mission.
In our 2008-2013 Strategic Plan "Building on 50 Years of Excellence," the faculty, staff, students and administrators involved in writing the document made a solid commitment to expanding the excellence that has long been our hallmark. We continue to offer Penn State quality education in an intimate setting. We will continue our passion for outstanding teaching, community engagement by all, world class research and student centered activities. As a newly vetted member of NCAA Division III, our athletics will provide new experiences for our students.
Raised in the land grant tradition, I value the rich experiences that are unique to a land grant school. I welcome you to Penn State Berks and I invite you to come visit me at the historic Janssen Building. Let's celebrate our experiences as Nittany Lions. We are PENN STATE!
"Prejudices, it is well known, are most difficult to eradicate from the heart whose soil has never been loosened or fertilized by education; they grow there firm as weeds among stones."
— Jane Eyre, Charlotte Bronte
