Interdisciplinary Business with Engineering Studies

The Interdisciplinary Business with Engineering Studies degree is designed for students who are excited about both business and technology. This degree is differentiated by coursework emphasizing the core principles of engineering, business, and product development – preparing graduates for technical leadership careers within technology-driven organizations. Students will be able to further customize their degree by choosing from the Accounting / Finance or Technical Sales option.

The program’s interdisciplinary foundation and team-based projects, along with hands-on learning experiences, open doors to diverse career pathways across industrial, service, and technology sectors. Students also develop strong teamwork, communication, and problemsolving skills — key strengths employers seek.

What Will I Study in IBE?

In addition to core coursework in business, engineering, engineering mathematics, and science, you'll choose a focus module tailored to your interests and career goals. Degree options include Accounting / Finance or Technical Sales.

Experience for the Real World

IBE is the only program of its type that includes an industry-sponsored capstone research experience. In your final two semesters, you will use all of the skills you've developed — and gain practical experience — as you create business and technical plans to bring a new product or process to market. Ultimately, this capstone experience becomes a vital part of student portfolios when exploring employment opportunities.

Who Hires IBE Majors?

IBE majors are well-prepared to work on the business side of a technical company (or continue their education in graduate studies!). Typical entry-level positions of IBE graduates are project manager, transportation specialist, data analyst, purchasing specialist, technical salesperson, or quality control specialist.
