Accessing Counseling Services
For new clients:
- Call or email to schedule an appointment for an initial phone screening. You can schedule with counselor Colleen Tillger at [email protected] or 610-396-6082, or schedule through Health Services by calling 610-396-6075. You will need to provide your name, PSU ID#, phone number, and email address.
- You will receive an email or text with a link to complete intake paperwork online, including a virtual consent form. This must be completed prior to your phone screening.
- Counselor will call you at the scheduled time to conduct phone screening. You and the counselor will discuss your concerns and determine which kind of counseling service will best fit your needs.
- An appointment for your next counseling session will be scheduled. If your appointment is via Zoom, a link and password will be emailed to you. If it is a phone session, the counselor will call you at the scheduled appointment time.
For existing clients:
- Call or email the contacts above to schedule an appointment for either a phone or Zoom counseling session, whichever you feel would work best for you.
- You will receive an email or text with a link to complete new intake paperwork online, including a virtual consent form. This must be completed prior to your appointment.
- If your appointment is via Zoom, a link and password will be emailed to you. If it is a phone session, the counselor will call you at the scheduled appointment time.
Accessing psychiatric services
Remote psychiatric services with our contracted provider, Mantra Health, are available to all students.
1. Students who are interested in accessing remote psychiatric services for medication consultations will need to be referred by counseling services staff.
2. Any student who is interested in remote psychiatric services is encouraged to schedule a counseling appointment to begin the process.
Crisis services
If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis:
- Call Health Services for a crisis mental health screening. If unavailable, please reach out to another staff person on campus or call our local crisis hotline at 877-236-4600.
- Health services will either schedule you for the soonest urgent counseling appointment time or refer you to local crisis resources who may be able to respond more quickly.
- After hours or on a weekend – you can call the 24/7 Penn State Crisis Line 877-229-6400 or text LIONS to 741741. You can also call the local crisis hotline 877-236-4600 for mobile response.
- If a person is in imminent danger or you require immediate assistance, please call 911 and/or campus police.
Online resources
[email protected] is an online portal all about college student well-being, addressing everything from academics and career planning, to mental/physical health, to connections on campus. [email protected] is filled with timely information, quizzes, blogs, articles, and videos that become personalized to your needs. Use your Penn State ID to log in and register for a free account, to access all of the content and tools.
Welltrack describes itself as “interactive self-help therapy” and is designed to help you to identify and address a variety of mental health issues, including stress, anxiety, and depression. It provides a variety of tools and resources, including a mood checker, guided meditation tracks, and a course to help build resiliency skills.
