Stand for State, an initiative aimed at empowering Penn Staters to stand up for one another, kicked off this week with University-wide events. Many of the decorations and giveaways were inspired by Green Dot, a national leader in violence prevention education.
With the June 20 announcement of six more seed grants to Penn State campuses, the Invent Penn State initiative covers 13 locations around the Commonwealth.
This spring Penn State awarded almost 14,000 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing associate, baccalaureate, master’s, law, doctoral and medical degrees, bringing the University’s number of graduates to an estimated total of more than 800,000. Many of the University's graduates received their degrees at campuses other than University Park. This year, as part of its Military Appreciation Week, Penn State will celebrate 100 years of women officially serving in the U.S. military.
