Stand for State, an initiative aimed at empowering Penn Staters to stand up for one another, kicked off this week with University-wide events. Many of the decorations and giveaways were inspired by Green Dot, a national leader in violence prevention education. In 2015, about 200 faculty, staff and administrators received Green Dot's bystander intervention training, preparing them to provide workshops for student leaders throughout 2016.
This spring Penn State awarded almost 14,000 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing associate, baccalaureate, master’s, law, doctoral and medical degrees, bringing the University’s number of graduates to an estimated total of more than 800,000. Many of the University's graduates received their degrees at campuses other than University Park. This photo gallery contains a sampling of commencement activities at Penn State campuses across Pennsylvania.
Photo album: Whether it's piloting a jet, standing guard in a war zone, or rising through the ranks, Penn Staters are continuing a long tradition of serving their country in the armed forces. This year, as part of its Military Appreciation Week, Penn State will celebrate 100 years of women officially serving in the U.S. military.
