Biography

Dr. Maria C. Fellie has completed degrees in English and Spanish and has been teaching Spanish at the university level for over a decade. She has studied and worked abroad in Spain, but also has visited many other countries and loves to explore the world and its infinite cultures. One of her favorite parts of being a professor is helping students study and travel abroad.

Dr. Fellie’s research centers on translation studies, contemporary poetry & culture in Spain (1975-present), and visual studies. Her article and presentation topics often combine these specialties. She also translates poetry, specifically the poetry of Antonio Colinas (Spain), and often carries out volunteer translation projects.

At Penn State Berks, Dr. Fellie teaches a range of courses, from Spanish 2 & 3 to Spanish 200/301, 297, and 497. The special-topics courses 297 & 497 are designed for Spanish minors and other advanced-level students. Dr. Fellie’s topics in these courses tend to focus on translation, interpreting, and Spanish for professional purposes, among other topics.
