Penn State Berks celebrates Sustainability Month

The Penn State Berks Sustainability Team, led by Mahsa Kazempour, associate professor of science education, will host two film screenings in April. These events are supported by the Berks Arts & Cultural Funds Endowment.

Six faculty members receive 2017 Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching

Six Penn State faculty members -- John Beale, senior lecturer of journalism in the College of Communications; Theresa Clemente, instructor of business at Penn State Wilkes-Barre; Brian Crosby, lecturer of psychology in the College of the Liberal Arts; James Lyon, professor of music in the College of Arts and Architecture; Denise Ogden, professor marketing at Penn State Lehigh Valley; and JoAnne Pumariega, instructor of mathematics and Spanish at Penn State Berks -- have received the 2017 George W. Atherton Award for Excellence in Teaching.

In a culture where 70 percent of the population is overweight or obese, and yet only 15 percent exercise regularly enough to gain health benefits, why should anyone bother to study people who may exercise too much and produce detrimental consequences?

Students participated in 'Be a Penn Stater for a Day'

Students from Reading High School (RHS) visited Penn State Berks for the eighth annual "Be a Penn Stater for a Day" program from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5. The program is designed to encourage high school students to pursue higher education.

Berks holds University Scholastic Awards Ceremony

Penn State Berks students received recognition for their scholarly accomplishments at the University Scholastic Awards Ceremony on April 6. The awards presented included the President’s Freshman Award, the President Sparks Award, and the Evan Pugh Scholar Award.
