Biography
Jayné Park-Martínez joined Penn State Berks in 2011. Her background is in geology and environmental science, so she brings an understanding of Earth's ancient history and the interconnectedness of Earth's systems to the courses that she teaches.
Research Interests
Stream restoration, including riparian buffer planting and flood mitigation in conjunction with Penn State Extension Master Watershed Stewards. Since 2023, Park-Martinez has worked with Alsace Township to help residents cope with flash flooding by planting and maintaining riparian trees and shrubs. Since 2022, she has taken students to Gring's Mill to remove invasive species, and plant native trees and shrubs next to Tulpehocken Creek.
