Samantha Bower

Samantha Bower serves as webmaster in Penn State Berks' Strategic Communications office. She is responsible for web content management, social media management, professional writing, publications design, event photography, videography, and internal communications.

Bower formerly served as a desktop publications and digital media specialist at Penn State Schuylkill. She has been working for the University since 2016.

Bower began her college career at Penn State Berks, but later graduated with her B.F.A. in motion pictures and television from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. During her undergraduate career, Bower completed two internships, first serving as an electronic media intern for Berks Community Television (BCTV) and later a production intern and assistant for a feature film produced by Shooting Films, LLC. Bower worked for BCTV for more than six years, ultimately becoming a staff member responsible for live production design, camera direction, volunteer management, and switchboard and control room operations. She also chaired the station's Octoberfest Auction, the organization's largest source of annual funding, in 2015, bringing in over $60,000 in donations.

BCTV plays an integral role in its community by airing local election returns, debates, town hall meetings, and non-governmental organization and non-profit communications. This work inspired her to earn her master's degree in community and economic development from Penn State World Campus, where she intends to graduate this fall after completing her master of professional studies paper identifying best practices for climate resilient cities in the United States.

In addition to her role at Penn State Schuylkill, Bower also serves on HYPE (Helping Young People Excel) Schuylkill's communications committee. HYPE Schuylkill is a young professionals' organization under the Schuylkill Chamber of Commerce management umbrella, and Bower leverages her involvement to conduct community service. Bower also volunteers for Helping Harvest, a fresh food bank serving Berks and Schuylkill counties.
