Life Science Option

Students earning the Integrative Science degree in the Life Science option are encouraged to follow the recommended academic path outlined below. This plan is also offered with Secondary Education in Biology in collaboration with Albright College.

First Semester

  • ENGL 015 (3 credits)
  • FIRST-YEAR SEMINAR (PHIL 132S) (3 credits)

Third Semester

*These courses are only offered in the semester indicated.


Prior to end of fourth semester, the student will need to register with Albright for the secondary education certificate program. For each Albright course the student should see their advisor at PSU. The requirements for enrollment are:

  1. Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above
  2. Have at least 6 credits of mathematics (which are included in the Life Science degree)
  3. Have completed ENGL 15 and a literature class
  4. Pass three PRAXIS exams: writing, reading, and math
  5. Complete CAS 100
  6. Complete EDU 214 at Albright

Student will graduate with a degree in life science from Penn State University then enroll for a ninth semester at Albright College to complete two more 400-level education courses and student teaching.
