Students facing major life transitions, such as leaving the protected environment of home or school, have a lot of decisions to make. It can scary to face these choices, knowing that no one is going to tell you whether or not you are making the right ones. Tina Seelig, entrepreneur, neuroscientist, popular teacher, and author of What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20, will present a lecture on this topic on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
What I Wish I Knew When I Was 20 is the 2015 selection for the college?s common reading program. In her book, Seelig shares provocative stories, inspiring advice, and a big dose of humility and humor. As the executive director of Stanford University?s Technology Ventures Program, Seelig guides her students as they make the difficult transition from the academic environment to the professional world, providing tangible skills and insights that will last a lifetime. She describes fascinating examples, from the classroom to the boardroom, of individuals defying expectations, challenging assumptions, and achieving amazing success.
?Uncertainty is the essence of life, and it fuels opportunity,? states Seelig.
