Dawn Pfeifer Reitz joined the CAS team in August 2015. In addition to 8 years teaching public speaking at West Chester University, Dawn integrates nearly 30 years of experience in all aspects of leadership — from counseling to student affairs — to create a vibrant, engaging, and socially conscious community within her communication classrooms.

Prior to joining the Penn State Berks family, Dawn served in various roles at West Chester University since 1998. In January of 2008, Dawn joined the faculty of the Department of Communication Studies as an Adjunct Professor. Dawn primarily taught Public Speaking, but also taught Business and Professional Communications, and most recently Persuasion. Dawn has a particular interest in working with the incoming student population as they transition into their new roles as “college student.” Dawn also has a passion for leadership.

Dawn Pfeifer Reitz also served West Chester University as a Grant Writer for the Division of Student Affairs from January 2006 to January 2008 and as the Assistant Director of Housing fromJuly 1998 to January 2006. Dawn previously taught in Educational Counseling at WCU, and has taught Business Communication for Peirce College. In addition, Dawn held positions in Student Affairs at Kutztown University of PA and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Dawn was recognized in October, 2018 by the Pennsylvania Communication Association with the Harvey Kelly Excellence in Teaching Award. Dawn was proud to be inducted into the Division of Student Affairs Legacy of Leadership Class of 2009 at West Chester University.
