Dawn Pfeifer Reitz joined the Penn State Berks communication arts and sciences team in August 2015. In addition to eight years teaching public speaking at West Chester University, Pfeifer Reitz integrates nearly 30 years of experience in all aspects of leadership — from counseling to student affairs — to create a vibrant, engaging, and socially conscious community within her communication classrooms.

Prior to joining the Penn State Berks family, Pfeifer Reitz served in various roles at West Chester University since 1998. In January 2008, she became an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies. Pfeifer Reitz primarily taught public speaking, but also taught business and professional communications, and most recently persuasion. She has a particular interest in working with the first-year student population as they transition into their new roles as college students. Pfeifer Reitz also has a passion for leadership.

Pfeifer Reitz also served West Chester University as a grant writer for the Division of Student Affairs from January 2006 to January 2008 and as the assistant director of housing from July 1998 to January 2006. She previously taught in educational counseling at West Chester University, and has taught business communication for Peirce College. Additionally, Pfeifer Reitz held positions in student affairs at Kutztown University, Pa., and King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

Pfeifer Reitz was recognized by the Pennsylvania Communication Association with the Harvey Kelly Excellence in Teaching Award in October 2018. She was proud to be inducted into the Division of Student Affairs Legacy of Leadership Class of 2009 at West Chester University.
