Nearly 400 students from across the region visited Penn State Berks on Saturday, Jan. 26, to compete in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League competition.

Chantale Lussier, assistant professor in the School of Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Spirituality at Saint Paul University in Ontario, Canada, will present “Inspiring Sustainable Excellence: Stories from Sport, Academia, and Life” from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Feb. 4 in Room 5 of the Luerssen Building at Penn State Berks.
Lorena Tribe, professor of chemistry at Penn State Berks, was named chair of the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry (COLL) on Jan. 1.
A new monthly program at Berks titled “Berks Community Connections” is opening the door to various cultures around the world. Cheryl Nicholas will give a presentation on Malaysian ghost stories.
Berks’ newly expanded Berks LaunchBox hosted several troops of Girl Scout Cadettes for a Robotics Workshop in December. Girl Scout Troops 134, 1221 and 1628 participated in the event at the Berks LaunchBox.
Penn State Berks Benefiting THON, a student organization, is inviting the community to take the “Polar Plunge” to raise funds for THON. This year's event will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the beach at Blue Marsh Lake.
