The GO-60 Program at Penn State Berks provides nondegree seeking individuals over the age of 60 with the opportunity to enroll in up to two undergraduate courses per semester, tuition-free.
Membership Eligibility
To qualify for participation in the Go-60 Program, students must be:
- At least 60 years of age at the time of enrollment
- Retired or working no more than 20 hours per week
- Pennsylvania residents living in the Berks service area, which includes the following counties: Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montgomery, and Chester
Course Limitations
-
A maximum of two undergraduate credit courses, totaling up to six credits, may be taken on a "space-available basis" only. Additional credits may be taken at the current tuition rate.
- Tuition-free enrollment in the Go-60 Program applies only to the courses numbered 001 through 399. Any 400-level or higher courses may be taken at the current tuition rate.
- The program does not apply to noncredit courses/workshops, certificate programs, conferences, and other activities offered through Penn State or Penn State Continuing Education.
- Students are not able to enroll in the same course more than one time.
- Students are not able to enroll in courses that have a travel component.
Go-60 Student Requirements
-
Completion of course prerequisites or co-requisites is required.
- Students are expected to follow established rules, regulations, and procedures applicable to all students, including participating in class and completing assignments and tests (unless an alternative arrangement is made with an instructor beforehand.)
What else do I need to know?
- Students receiving the Go-60 tuition benefit will not be eligible for any other campus-based scholarship programs.
- Students will be responsible for fees and other costs associated with the course, including textbooks, materials, and any course-related fees.
How do I enroll in the GO-60 Program?
- Students must complete a non-degree enrollment form online, and mail, hand-deliver or email it to [email protected] for processing.
- Students must schedule their course by emailing [email protected] the Tuesday before the start of the semester.
- Go-60 students may choose to audit a credit course instead of enrolling for a grade, which means the student follows the regular registration procedure. Go-60 students who wish to audit a course must notify the Registrar's Office at the time of registration. Students who choose to audit are still only eligible to take two undergraduate credit courses per semester.
For more information, contact the Registrar’s Office at 610-396-6085 or [email protected].
