Accelerated Personal Care Home Administrator Training

Program Overview

This program is offered to Penn State Berks students in cooperation with Penn State Abington, Penn State DuBois and Penn State York.

This course is for current and aspiring personal care administrators or nurses, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who wish to fulfill continuing education requirements. This program features Pennsylvania Department of Human Services standardized and approved curriculum and consists of nineteen courses that vary in length from two to nine hours.

Students must attend a one-day Department of Human Services Orientation in addition to the 100-hour course. There is no fee for the 2022 PCH Orientation*

*NOTE:  DHS has temporarily postponed the PCHA Orientation due to Covid.  We will update this information as it becomes available.  A temporary waiver is available from DHS for this training.

Qualifications necessary to attend this program

Student must have one of the following:

• An associate degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university
• A license as a registered nurse from the Pennsylvania Department of State
• A license as a licensed practical nurse from the Pennsylvania Department of State and one year experience in a related field
• A license as a nursing home administrator from the Pennsylvania Department of State.

For a home serving eight or fewer residents, a general education development diploma or high school diploma and two years direct care or administrative experience in the human services field

Course Schedule Options

Evening Program in cooperation with Penn State Abington (10 weeks)

Dates: March 1 through May 24, 2022, Tuesdays/Thursdays (occasional Wednesday)
Time:  6:00–9:30 p.m.
Delivery Mode:  All courses are delivered via Zoom Classroom

Day Program in cooperation with Penn State DuBois (6 weeks)

Dates:  January 18 - February 24, 2022 (Tuesdays/Thursdays)
Time:  8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Delivery: All courses are delivered via Zoom Classroom
Tuition Fee: $1,450

Weekend Program in cooperation with Penn State York

Dates: September 9 - October 7, 2021 (Thursday, Friday and some Saturdays)
Delivery Mode: All courses are delivered via Zoom
Classroom Tuition Fee: $1,450

Students must also have a current CPR/AED certification. If certification is needed, please let us know and we can provide agency referrals.

Scholarship Information

Scholarships for the 100-hour course are available through the Thomas R. Roth Memorial Scholarship Fund.

CURRENT PCHAs

Each of the classes in the Personal Care Home Administrator 100-Hour Training can be taken by PCHAs toward their annual 24 credit requirement. The cost per credit hour is just $15 and you can get your credits during the day, evening or weekends. SPECIAL PRICE of $249 if you register for all 24 required CEUs.
