A series of workshops to explore options for creating online instructional resources
This series of workshops guides faculty as they explore options to create their own web-based instructional resources for a hybrid, online, or flipped classroom.
Each workshop provides a brief overview of best practices and a hands-on opportunity to create a style of online instructional resources (videos, tutorials, interactive elements) for your course. (Presented by Mary Ann Mengel)
Record a Narrated Instructional Screencast
Wednesday November 29, 2017, T137, 12:10 pm – 1:20 pm
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn to use free online tools to create a screencast—a narrated video recording of anything you see on your computer screen. Learn to create an instructional video about how to use a software application, record a narrated slide presentation with animations, talk your students through how to navigate a website, or explain your thought process as you review a sample essay document. We’ll discuss best practices and how to easily incorporate video-based instruction in a Canvas course.

Monday December 11, 2017, T137 (and T127) 12:10 pm – 1:20 pm
If you’ve never visited our One Button Studio, you’ll be surprised how easy it is to film a video-based introduction or mini-lecture with the studio’s camera, microphone, and lighting. In this hands-on session, we’ll review three styles of videos you can record in our One Button Studio, and evaluate the potential of each as an instructional resource. You’ll record a short video recording and learn best practices for sharing your video with students in a Canvas course.
