Campus Services

Emergency Telephones

There are a total of 13 Code Blue phones conveniently located on all major parking lots, near the Alumni Pavilion, and in center campus between the library and the Perkins Student Center. There are also 10 emergency telephones located at the entrances to our Residence Halls. These phones may be used to report crimes in progress, suspicious persons, medical emergencies, or concerns about your personal safety. You may contact University Police from these phones or for emergency situations you can call 911. There are also eight courtesy phones at various locations inside buildings on campus from which you can dial 911 in an emergency. We remind you that calling 911 is for bona-fide emergencies.

First Aid

After-hours, weekends, or whenever Health Services is not available, Police Services provides first aid for minor injuries.

Automated External Defibrillator Units (AEDs)

There are seven Automated External Defibrillator Units (AEDs) on campus. They are located in the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center, the Luerssen Science Building, the Gaige Technology & Business Innovation Building, and the Perkins Student Center. University Police also carry one in each of our three police patrol vehicles. These units are for use by trained personnel on a person who is in cardiac arrest. All of our police officers are certified in CPR and in the use of the AEDs. Additionally, several members of the faculty, staff and student body are certified in CPR and in the use of the AEDs.

Vehicle Assistance

Vehicle Lockouts

If you accidentally lock your keys in your vehicle on campus, University Police may be able to help you. We will attempt to unlock your vehicle if you sign a waiver of liability.

Jump and Carry Unit

If you have a dead battery, the "Jump and Carry Unit" (a portable 12-volt rechargeable battery starter) may be able to assist you to "jump start" your vehicle. Just stop at the University Police Office, 112 Luerssen Science Building, to borrow and sign out this unit. This unit is only available to use on campus and we ask you to return the unit immediately after use.

The above services are offered free to students and visitors. University Police will make every effort to resolve the situation, but they do not perform any other mechanical work.

Please do not call 911 for non-emergency vehicle problems. You may contact University Police for non-emergency assistance at 610-396-6111. Call 911 for emergency assistance.

Lost and Found

The Police Services Office is the central repository for the campus Lost and Found. Any found items should be turned in to the Police Services Office immediately. Persons who have lost property are encouraged to check with Police Services for their belongings by calling 610-396-6111 or visiting 112 Luerssen Science Building.

Operation Identification

Operation ID is a program for marking and protecting property like TVs, computers, stereos, and other valuables. The University Police and Public Safety Office has engravers available that students may borrow to mark their property. We recommend engraving your driver's license number and state in a conspicuous place in order to prevent resale. For soft or porous objects, use a contrasting permanent marking pen. For items that cannot be marked, place the object against a plain background and take several color photographs from different angles. Include a ruler in the photograph for scale. An itemized record of each item should include brand name, model number, serial number, estimated value, and color, etc.

Crime Prevention Programs

Throughout the year, our Police Crime Prevention Officers present numerous educational programs to students. These programs typically address issues such as alcohol and drug awareness, theft prevention, and personal safety.

If you experience a problem that requires University Police assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. We encourage you to make prompt reports.
