CyberPatriot

Air & Space Forces Association's CyberPatriot camps are designed for high school and middle school students who are just getting into cybersecurity or who have cybersecurity knowledge and want to learn more.  Students will engage in topics covering Windows 10 and Ubuntu 18 to include security policies, account management, file protections, auditing and monitoring, terminology and concepts, basic user interface security, basic command line and intermediate security. Our program inspires students toward careers in cybersecurity and computer sciences.

Basic Foundations (June 9-13, 2025)

The basic foundations camp is designed to teach beginner students the basics of cybersecurity. No prior cybersecurity knowledge is required for participants. The following is an outline of the curriculum for the Standard CyberCamp.

Fridays, campers will compete against each other and other nationwide CyberPatriot campers in a CyberSecurity competition. 

Sample Schedule:

  • Monday: Introduction to the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, introduction to cybersecurity & careers, cyber ethics, online safety, how computers work, virtual machines, and cyber threats.
  • Tuesday: Cybersecurity principles, basic Windows security policies and tools, account management, windows file protections, and auditing and monitoring. Students will follow along and work with the Windows 10 demonstration image.
  • Wednesday: Introduction to Linux, Mint terminology and concepts, basic GUI security, and intro to CLI. Students will follow along and work with the Mint demonstration image.
  • Thursday: Basic command line security and intermediate Mint security. Students will follow along and work with the Mint demonstration image.
  • Friday - CyberPatriot competition day. Students will compete against their fellow campers on Windows 10 and Mint competition images. 

Advanced Concepts (July 14-18, 2025)

The Advanced Concepts camp is open to students who completed the Basic Foundations camp, or can provide verification of completion of course work completed within the last year through a cyber club or through the student's school district. ​​ The Advanced Concepts camp curriculum is designed to allow instructors to pick and choose from advanced areas of interests which are best suited for camper's innovative skill set, including: 

  • Windows 10 Module -- Windows Graphical Utilities, Windows Command Line, optional Sysinternals Suite.
  • Mint -- Init Systems, Advanced Command Line, Processes and Scheduled Tasks, optional Security Policies and PAM, optional Networking.
  • Cisco NetAcad -- Networking Modules 1-3.

Fridays, campers will compete against each other and other nationwide CyberPatriot campers in a CyberSecurity competition.
