Engineering Design Challenge, March 11, 2014
The 2014 Engineering Design Challenge will be held in the Gaige Building at Penn State Berks on March 11, 2014. The competition is open to both high school and middle school teams. Check in for the competition will begin at 8:15 am followed by a keynote presentation at 8:45 am. The actual competition will start at 9:30 am and will conclude at 1:30 pm. Lunch will be provided. A confirmation with additional details will be provided upon registration.

There is a fee of $100 to enter a team of students in the Design Challenge to cover the cost of lunch and materials.
To register please complete and return the registration form by March 1, 2014. Also attached is a parental consent form that must be completed and returned for each participating student prior to the start of the competition.
The number of teams will be limited so early registration is encouraged.

Penn State Berks Helping Hands Engineering Design Challenge Details
STEM Conference
Penn State Berks will host its annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference, titled ?Today and Tomorrow 2014? on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Approximately 100 eleventh-grade students are expected to attend the conference, which will feature instructors and students from Penn State Berks and the community who will provide workshops with the goal of encouraging the high school students to continue their studies in science, math, engineering, and technology.
Interactive workshops will aim to enlighten students on the possibilities for future studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and math. One of Penn State Berks? initiatives for community outreach is to offer youth programming that encourages and prepares students for science and technology degrees and to expand efforts to improve Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education in the community. Collaboration with area school districts to improve science education is one way in which Penn State Berks hopes to advance this initiative.
This program was originally created and organized by Dr. Janet Winter, Senior Lecturer in Mathematics who retired from Penn State Berks in 2012.
