Fourth Annual PSU Berks Alumni Tour Abroad

Bruges, Belgium

Penn State Berks along with Arawjo Tours is pleased to announce the Fourth Annual PSU Berks Alumni Tour Abroad to Bruges, Belgium, March 6-13, 2014.

What is it about Bruges that draws millions of visitors each year? It may have something to do with the best French fries in the world (the Belgians invented "French" fries), the most scrumptious waffles imaginable, chocolate that cannot be matched anywhere else in Europe, over three hundred delicious types of beer, gourmet cuisine often made with wild game, wonderful little shops on narrow cobblestone streets, Venice-like canals with small boats transporting people to and fro, medieval Gothic towers and lovely squares encircled by centuries-old houses, and, of course, friendly Belgians who undoubtedly realize they are living in an open-air museum and are proud to share the sights with visitors. Bruges is, in fact, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The features of Bruges that everyone seems to find attractive are its quaintness, manageability, and hominess. Other cities can leave one overwhelmed and frustrated, but Bruges is a jewel that can be felt and appreciated immediately, since everything is so accessible. Other Belgian towns can also be easily accessed by train from Bruges, including Antwerp, Gent, Brussels, and many more. This is a perfect destination for a short one-city PSU Berks getaway.

TOUR FEATURES: This tour will include round trip air transportation from Newark to Brussels, six nights in the centrally-located first class Portinari Hotel (Portinari Hotel web site) with buffet breakfasts daily, all transfers to/from Brussels and the hotel in Bruges, a half day walking tour of Bruges, opportunity to participate in one or more optional excursions from Bruges, and a pre-departure orientation at Penn State Berks. The tour will be led by Kevin Arawjo of Arawjo Tours.
