This spring Penn State awarded almost 14,000 diplomas to students University-wide who are completing associate, baccalaureate, master’s, law, doctoral and medical degrees, bringing the University’s number of graduates to an estimated total of more than 800,000. Many of the University's graduates received their degrees at campuses other than University Park. Penn State Hazleton graduate Brett Finkelstein receives a congratulatory hug from Associate Professor of Engineering Wieslaw "Wes" Grebski. Finkelstein, who graduated with a bachelor of science degree in general engineering focused on alternative energy and power generation, is among the final class of engineers during Grebski's tenure. Grebski, who started at the campus in 1984 and who was instrumental in creating the program, will retire at the end of June.

As students received their diplomas at Penn State Brandywine’s spring commencement ceremony, the campus continued its tradition of allowing each student a few moments to share thoughts about their college experience. Women’s basketball player Cashae Hinton, who scored 1,176 points while twice earning All-American and All-Conference honors, thanked those who helped her complete a degree in human development and family studies.
