THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 20

Rockin’ Through the Fifties Sock Hop
8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Grab your Elvis wig and get ready to Rock N’ Roll! Join us for root beer floats, diner style snacks, and more! Think you’ve got serious moves? Stick around for the dance contest at 9:00 p.m. for a chance to win prizes. Wear your favorite poodle skirt and leather jacket and get ready to rock around the clock!

Theatre at Berks Presents: Revenge of the Space Pandas, by David Mamet

Boy genius Binky invents a two-speed clock that transports him and his best friends, Vivian Mooster and Bob the Sheep, to a far off planet inhabited by Space Pandas. There, an evil king plots to kidnap Bob and use his wool to create the comfiest sweater in the galaxy. Can Binky, Vivian and Bob make it back to Earth in time for lunch? Come find out in this family show for all ages!

Float-Building Party

Bring the whole family to see our student organizations put their creativity to the test as they construct their best parade floats for tomorrow’s homecoming parade at 12 p.m. Floats will be judged and the winning organizations will receive funding to host a social for their members!

Kick off homecoming weekend right. The annual bonfire is a sight to behold! Join us for an evening of music, snacks and camaraderie on the Luerssen Lawn. Sponsored by the Student Government Association.

Doors open at 8:00 pm and Kick off is 9:00 pm

Join faculty, staff, alumni and friends to cheer on our beloved Nittany Lions as they take on the Fighting Illini. Drink tickets will be provided to the first 100 attendees.  Door prizes, raffles, creamery ice cream and grilled stickies will also be available. 

 

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22

Special Living Options Open House
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Ivy Lounge, Woods Residence Hall

Residents, family members, and alumni are invited to join Residence Life staff to learn more about the Special Living Options on campus. Continental breakfast will be served.

Perkins Lawn, Perkins Plaza and adjacent lawns

Street performers, freebies, inflatables and other attractions will provide fun for the whole family! Meander across the lawns of the beautiful Penn State Berks Campus and enjoy these free activities.

Register online by September 10 if you and members of your family plan to attend the free picnic lunch on Saturday, September 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on the Perkins Lawn. The picnic is free for Penn State Berks students, alumni, employees and their families. Due to space limitations, the maximum number of guests per party is five. Berks alumni are invited to stop by the Alumni Tent, located by the Beaver Community Center, to pick up a free alumni gift, enjoy light refreshments, and mingle with faculty, staff, and fellow alumni.  

Homecoming Parade

Students, faculty and staff will show “Rocking Through the Fifties” as they make their way across campus in their custom-made floats.  Follow the signs for the best view between Luerssen and Perkins!

Pre-Race Stretching with BLDG. 7 Yoga

BLDG. 7 YOGA and Berks Benefitting THON welcomes everyone, regardless of age, fitness level or yoga experience to a pre-race stretching/yoga experience prior to the Berks Benefitting THON 5K on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. adjacent to the Perkins Plaza on campus.   You don’t have to participate in the 5K (set to begin at 10 a.m.) to have fun with the stretching/yoga event.  No mats necessary!   BLDG. 7 Yoga is a diverse yoga studio located in Wyomissing. They bring years of teaching experience and technique to all!

Participate in this 3.1 mile run or 1-mile walk to support Berks Benefitting THON’s goal of raising funds and awareness for pediatric cancer.  Register after September 10 or day of race for $25 outside the Perkins Student Center or in advance before September 10 for $20 at http://sites.psu.edu/berksbenefittingthon77/event/5k-run/

Advance registration includes a T-shirt. Race day registration will begin at 8:45 a.m.
