Join us at Penn State Berks to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with vibrant events, cultural showcases, and community spirit. These events include dynamic speakers, Latin cuisine, music, dancing, and so much more! All activities are free and open to the public.
Inaugural Activity
Monday, September 15, Noon, Perkins Plaza
This date coincides with Mexican Independence Day. The event includes live mariachi music, remarks from our Mexican heritage faculty, and Mexican food. In the case of rain, the event will be held in the Perkins Multipurpose Room.
Berks LaunchBox: Connect & Inspire

Tuesday, September 16, 6 to 8 p.m., Centro Hispano, 25 North 2nd Street, Reading, Pa.
This Spanish-language event will allow entrepreneurs to make new connections and gain new ideas and inspiration. Networking at 6 p.m., talks begin at 7 p.m. Andrés Gómez, a TV presenter and international speaker, will share communication tips. Attendees must register in advance.
Javier Ávila: Embracing the Past and the Present
Wednesday, September 24, 5 p.m., 222 Luerssen Science Building
Javier Ávila is an English professor, poet, novelist, and public speaker. His work has earned him numerous awards. Ávila offers an in-depth analysis of the Latino-American experience and a fascinating perspective on what it means to balance assimilation with cultural preservation. Latin food tasting will follow the talk.
Fiesta Latina
Wednesday, October 1, 5 p.m., Perkins Student Center
The theme of this annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration is “One Language, Many Cultures.” The event includes exhibits, performances, and live presentations followed by Latin cuisine tastings.

Latino Forum: Your Identity is Your Superpower

This event is for high school students, their teachers, and the community. Nationally recognized strategist, speaker, and author Damary M. Bonilla-Rodríguez promotes cultures of belonging. Her talk creates spaces where every voice is valued, reflecting the cultural richness of the communities they represent. Pizza will be served following the presentation. Registration is required.
