Dr. Elaine K. Meils is an associate teaching professor of education and program chair of the Elementary and Early Childhood Education program at Penn State Berks. Her areas of focus include classroom best practices, student engagement and differentiation, equity for student learning, and classroom management. Meils oversees the fourth-year education majors in their student teaching experience within the Reading School District. Her coursework has included teaching student teaching seminar, strategies in classroom management, literacy in education, and issues in education.

Dr. Meils' teaching experience reflects her extensive background in the public school system. Prior to joining Penn State Berks, Meils served in various roles in public education throughout the state of Florida. She served as an elementary school teacher in the counties of Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, and Pinellas. Within the school district of Pinellas County, Meils also served as a curriculum specialist, assistant principal, and principal.
