Hilda W. and James C. Harper Merit Scholarship
Purpose
This scholarship shall be to provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding high school seniors planning to enroll in any Engineering curriculum at the Berks Campus. Further, it is hoped that the prospect of winning this scholarship will motivate high school student to apply themselves diligently in order to enhance the possibility of their winning this scholarship. The endowment shall also serve as a memorial to Arthur C. Harper, father of James C. Harper, and the first president of the Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute.
Eligibility
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all high school seniors who are planning to enroll at the Penn State Berks Campus in any Engineering curriculum who predict at a 2.9 GPA or above, show outstanding potential, and indicate a clear intent to complete a four-year college education. Additional consideration will be given for participation in school and community activities, work experience, and a statement, prepared by the candidates, of educational and career goals.
Amount of Award
The number of scholarships awarded and the amount of each shall be determined by the selection committee.
