Penn State Berks has a long history of offering educational and fun summer camps for middle school and high school children on a wide variety of subjects. This year, the coronavirus pandemic has changed the way in which summer camps will be offered, with a transition to remote delivery.
Remote Summer 2020 SAT Strategy Course
Students who are deciding whether to take the SAT exam should enroll in this camp. Not all colleges and universities are eliminating the SAT requirement for their next incoming class. Now is the time for students to practice SAT strategies that can help them to score higher on the exam. This is a strategy course with a concentration on math preparation for high school students who plan to sit for the fall 2020 SAT exams administered by College Board. The camp runs on the following dates: Wednesdays, July 8, 15, 22, 29, Aug. 5, 12, and 19 from 7– 8:30 p.m. The cost is $275, and students must purchase the textbook, which is required on the first night of class: CollegeBoard: The Official SAT Study Guide, ISBN-13: 978-1457312199
Swimming with the Sharks Camp
This camp is for middle school students who want to better their world. Using their creativity, participants will take original ideas and turn them into real inventions using STEAM principles. Ingenuity, engineering, design and finally construction of their projects leads up to a Shark Tank-style presentation before the Penn State judges. This camp is for students entering 5th through 8th grade in the fall of 2020. Students will work at their own pace and participate in one-hour scheduled Zoom sessions on these dates: July 20, 23, 27, and 29 from 10–11 a.m. The cost is $50.
