The Penn State Berks Muslim Student Association (MSA) is hosting a program on World Hijab Day, Monday, February 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, Perkins Student Center. The event will include a presentation on World Hijab Day, a gift of a free scarf for female attendees, a tutorial on how to wear the hijab, and a free lunch for all who attend. All participants will be asked to wear the hijab for the day and then send their thoughts on how they felt to Habida Popal, MSA President, at [email protected]. The person with the most engaging submission will win a prize.
February 1, 2013, marked the first annual World Hijab Day in recognition of millions of Muslim women who choose to wear the hijab, or head covering, and live a life of modesty. The purpose of the day is to build understanding for women who choose to wear the hijab as a symbol of their religious faith. World Hijab Day encourages non-Muslims, and Muslims who do not normally wear a hijab, to try wearing the hijab for that day.
