Unlocking the Power of Social Entrepreneurship is the topic of the upcoming Penn State Berks Entrepreneurship Speaker Series presentation on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at 1 p.m., in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
What is Social Entrepreneurship and what makes it effective? Why do some ventures succeed and others fail? Khanjan Mehta, the Founding Director of the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) Program and Assistant Professor of Engineering Design at Penn State University Park campus, will answer these questions and many more. This fast-paced and candid talk will employ a series of mini case studies to provide practical insights on the myriad of challenges to developing sustainable and scalable businesses in developing countries.
HESE is an integrated learning, research, and entrepreneurial engagement program focused on developing and commercializing technology-based solutions in low resource settings. Mehta has led technology-based social ventures in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Sierra Leone, Mozambique and other countries.
