Penn State Berks celebrates Veterans Day

The Student Veterans of America?Penn State Berks Chapter will sponsor a Veterans Day program on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public but attendees must register by Friday, November 6, 2015 to [email protected].

The program will begin with the singing of the National Anthem by Penn State Berks student Jocelyn Vargas. Navy veteran Myrtle L. Council will deliver the keynote address. Council was a part of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) program in World War II, where she served as Chief Yeomen. She has served as a charter member of the Women Veterans of Berks County and a volunteer at the Berks Veterans Affairs Office. In addition, she has been a professional Registered Parliamentarian since 1976, serving as past president of the National Association of Parliamentarians of Pennsylvania. The program will conclude with special recognition awarded to the Student Veterans of America?Penn State Berks Officers. All attendees are invited to a special luncheon following the program.
