Penn State Berks holds third annual Latino Forum for high school students

As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Penn State Berks is hosting seniors from local area high schools to participate in the third annual Latino Forum on Monday, September 28, 2015, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.

The day will begin with a welcome address by Chancellor R. Keith Hillkirk and Dr. Paul Esqueda, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, followed by a screening of the film Spare Parts, based on the true story of how ?four underdogs from the mean streets of Phoenix took on the best from M.I.T. in the national underwater bot championship.? The film ties into this year´s theme of "Engagement and Advocacy" and it will be featured in the college?s annual Festival de Cine.

After lunch, a panel of faculty, staff, students, and community representatives will discuss the film in relation to the theme of the Forum in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room.

Students from Governor Mifflin, Muhlenberg, Reading, Wilson, and Wyomissing School Districts, as well as Berks Catholic High School and the I-LEAD Charter School, have been invited to attend the Latino Forum. Members of the Hispanic Center have also been invited to participate in discussions.
