On-site document shredding at Penn State Berks

Penn State Berks had an on-site shredder on campus for faculty and staff on August 18, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. in the Franco Building parking lot as part of its sustainability initiatives.

Document shredding supports Penn State?s sustainability efforts in multiple ways. First, it reduces the space required to store records that are no longer needed. Second, all shredded documents will be recycled. Penn State diverts 56% of its solid waste from landfill as part of its conservation efforts. In 2014, Penn State Berks shredded and recycled over 5,500 pounds of paper documents. Through reduction, reuse, and recycling, Penn State strives to move toward environmental sustainability.
