College hosts Martin Luther King Day banquet on Jan. 29

Penn State Berks will host a banquet in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015. The event will be held in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room; doors open at 6 p.m., with a soul food dinner at 6:30.

The keynote speaker is Rev. Elisha Morris, PA NAACP Youth and College Division Adviser. In addition, there will be several student performances and awards will be presented to students who have demonstrated the characteristics for which Dr. King was known: leadership, community involvement, and efforts towards social justice.

Several community groups will be in attendance, including the NAACP?Reading Branch, Central PA African American Museum, and United Africans in the Dispora. All attendees must have a ticket and seating is limited.
