Theatre students recognized at American College Theatre Festival

Penn State Berks Theatre students were recently recognized at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) Region 2. Theatre students Arielle Smith, Julia Elberfeld, Christopher Crawford, and Brandon Reimer traveled to Cleveland, Ohio with their professor, James N. Brown, from January 2?6, 2015.

It all began when representatives of the KCACTF traveled to Penn State Berks to adjudicate and respond to the college?s production of Detroit in November 2014. Based on their visit, they invited the students to perform a scene from the play at the 2015 Festival in Cleveland. In addition, students Arielle Smith and Julia Elberfeld were selected to participate in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship event.

KCACTF is a national theater program involving 18,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide, which has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theatre in the United States. The KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 600 academic institutions throughout the country, where theater departments and student artists showcase their work and receive outside assessment by KCACTF respondents.
