Students volunteer in the community

Penn State Berks students will be ?lending their paws for a good cause? as they volunteer at a variety of nonprofit organizations during the academic year. The following is a list of community service initiatives in November.

Monday, November 3, 2014, from 1?2:15 p.m. Students will visit the Animal Rescue League to walk their dogs. Their work with these animals directly impacts their quality of life and gives the dogs more socialization with humans, resulting in increased chance of being adopted. The students plan to expand this program in the future to work with dogs that need even more socialization.

Sunday, November 9, from 1?2 p.m. The Dance Team will visit Elmcroft Senior Living in Reading to entertain the seniors and to teach them some line dances. The Dance Team?s interaction with the seniors provides a diversion from the seniors? everyday schedules and contributes to the overall enjoyment of the Elmcroft residents.

Wednesday, November 19, from 1?2:15 p.m. Students will be heading to Country Meadows in Wyomissing to help the residents prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday.
