Students volunteer in the community

Penn State Berks students will be ?lending their paws for a good cause? as they volunteer at a variety of nonprofit organizations during the academic year. The following is a list of community service initiatives in September.

Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 12:00?3:30 p.m. Students will assist with parking and serving food at the Country Meadows Fall Festival. Country Meadows Retirement Communities is located in Wyomissing, Pa.

Friday, September 19, from 1:00?2:30 p.m. Students will visit the Animal Rescue League to walk dogs, help clean up the facilities, and assist with a variety of other tasks.

Wednesday, September 24, from 1:00?2:30 p.m. Students will return to Country Meadows where they will be facing off against the residents in a friendly Wii Bowling tournament.

Sunday, September 28, from 1:00?2:00 p.m. Students will visit Elmcroft Senior Living Communities for their Adopt-a-Senior program, a monthly social event for the students and Elmcroft residents. This will take place at Elmcroft?s Reading location.

Monday, September 29, from 5:00?8:00 p.m. Students will serve dinner to the residents of Opportunity House, the Reading emergency shelter.
