Accounting degree joins college’s academic offerings

Penn State Berks will begin offering the B.S. in Accounting degree in the fall semester of 2015. This degree program is offered in response to industry and economic demand in Berks County for graduates with accounting degrees.

The Accounting degree program will help to prepare students for careers in auditing and public accounting, industrial and managerial accounting, and in governmental and not-for-profit accounting. It also provides a sound background for students who plan to pursue graduate studies in accounting or related fields.

Students who complete the prescribed courses and earn a B.S. degree in Accounting will satisfy the academic requirements to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) examination. Graduates may also elect to pursue other professional certifications, including Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).

The Accounting degree will join the college?s 17 other baccalaureate degree programs, providing a full complement of diverse and varied baccalaureate degree programs to meet the needs of students in the Berks County community and beyond.
