Shank to head Boscov-Lakin Information Commons and Thun Library

Penn State University Libraries have appointed John Shank to head the Boscov-Lakin Information Commons and Thun Library at Penn State Berks.

Shank, who joined the Libraries in 2001 as an instructional design librarian, was a founding associate director of the Penn State Berks Center for Learning and Teaching. In 2013, he transitioned back to a public services librarian role. Recently, he was accepted as a participant in the highly competitive Harvard Leadership Institute. Shank is the author of numerous publications and his book titled "Interactive Open Educational Resources: A Guide to Finding, Choosing, and Using What's Out There to Transform College Teaching" has just been published by JB, a division of Wiley.

The technology-rich Boscov-Lakin Information Commons at the Thun Library supports the academic needs of Penn State Berks? undergraduate students. In addition to a robust print collection and full access to all Penn State Libraries resources, it has a strong media collection of DVDs and CDs and a Special Collections Room.
