Three Aksha Dance Company preserves Indian culture

Three Aksha Dance Company will bring Indian culture to Penn State Berks on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Bharatanatyam is a classical Indian dance form that began in ancient Hindu temples, was performed in royal courts, and currently exists far beyond the temple and the court, speaking to modern themes. It celebrates the eternal universe through the beauty of the material body. Dancers wear deeply symbolic costumes, including unique jewelry, anklets, and bells. Three Aksha Dance Company preserves and promotes Indian culture through the movement language of Bharatanatyam, adhering to the lines of the body, angles, and geometry.

This presentation is part of the Arts and Lecture series. For more information, contact the Office of Campus Life at 610-396-6076.
