Reading Royals night to benefit THON

The Berks County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association, the Penn State Berks THON student group, and the Reading Royals are teaming up for the fourth consecutive year to hold a fundraising event to benefit THON, the world's largest student-run philanthropy dedicated to supporting children with pediatric cancer and their families, on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 7 p.m. at the Santander Arena in Reading.

Jay Paterno ?91, former member of the Penn State football coaching staff for 17 years and quarterback coach for 12 years, will be the keynote speaker.

Tickets for the game are $16 and $11 for Penn State students with a valid student ID, and a portion of every ticket purchased through the chapter or through the event web site (psuberkschapter.com/royals) will be donated to THON.

The Reading Royals will wear special Penn State Varsity hockey-themed jerseys. These one-of-a-kind game-worn jerseys will be autographed by the players wearing them and auctioned off following the game, with a portion of the proceeds also benefiting THON.

Proceeds from the first three years of this event have raised over $30,000 for THON. In addition, the THON families who are sponsored by the Berks campus group will be at the event to meet the Royals players and watch the pre-game warm-ups from the Royals bench area, and Penn State Berks students will be ?canning? for THON in the arena during the game.
