READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks will host the college’s first Student Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Leadership Retreat on Saturday, April 2. The retreat will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the Penn State Room in the Perkins Student Center and end at 3 p.m. This event is open to all Penn State Berks students, but students must register in advance. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The retreat will be based on The Game of Life, and it has been designed as an immersive diversity, equity and inclusion experience with opportunity for dialogue. Participants also will receive a certificate of completion.

"Students have asked for the opportunity to learn about DEI. This retreat will provide that and give them the knowledge and tools to help create the community they want their campus to be,” said Sharon Pitterson-Ogaldez, coordinator of Diversity and International Programs and chair of the Berks DEI Committee.

At the conclusion of the retreat, participants will gather at the flower bed in front of the Perkins Student Center to place sunflowers and Ukrainian flags in support of students and campus community members who are Ukrainian and have family or loved ones affected by the conflict.

This event is sponsored by the Berks DEI Committee and the student initiated fee.
