WYOMISSING, Pa. — Rungun Nathan, professor and chair of the mechanical engineering degree program at Penn State Berks, was the winner of the Open Innovation Challenge, part of Penn State TLT's Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology, on March 19.

His presentation topic was "Bring the X* to the Classroom (X* can be any of Factory, Machine, Museum, Tour, etc.).” The idea was to integrate existing technology to create an immersive reality field trip, which would save time and money for all the entities involved. As the 2022 winner, Nathan will collaborate with a dedicated team for one year to further explore his project concept idea.

The Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology’s Open Innovation Challenge allows creative Penn State faculty to win support for their transformative ideas involving education and technology.
