Unity Day celebration to be held October 2

Unity Day, an annual Penn State event that helps bring students, faculty, staff, and the community together to celebrate diversity, will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Activities will take place on the Perkins Plaza, weather permitting. All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The celebration will begin with the procession of flags from different countries and opening remarks by Joe Webb, followed by a series of revolving workshops that incorporate the theme of unity. Some of the workshops held during Unity Day will include What Do You Stand For; Peace; and the making of the Coming Out Video, which will be aired on campus during National Coming Out Day on October 11.  The Step Team will also be performing.  Students who complete three of these workshops will receive a unity t-shirt and wristband.
